Per this article, titled, “The beginning of the end?: Scientists sound the alarm as Antarctic sea ice hits record low for second year running”, the sea ice in Antarctica is melting at a record level.

That’s bad enough.  But add it to this article, titled “So-called Doomsday Glacier is in trouble, scientists say after finding surprising formations under ice shelf”, which says if the Thwaites Glacier, which is the size of Florida and nicknamed ‘Doomsday Glacier’, collapses, it could cause an immediate 2 foot rise and a possible longer-term 10 foot rise in sea level.

It is possible the glacier will not break free and all will be fine.  However, a 2021 study suggested it could fracture within five years.

If global warming continues to melt the sea ice, as discussed in the first article, odds are, Thwaites’ grip will weaken.
