Per this article, a two-decade-long negotiation between nearly 200 countries has concluded in a treaty to protect marine life in international waters!
- The treaty creates marine protected areas
- It will help us protect 30% of global oceans by 2030 (No, it’s not 100%, but it’s better than 0%)
Now, each country must formally adopt the treaty, so the work is not done. But, it is a great start!
