Per this new study, in early 2029, five years from now, we will hit the tipping point of 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit).

This is three years sooner than previous studies predicted – we are moving faster in the wrong direction.

Once we hit this threshold, the risk of catastrophes increases, as the world will likely lose most of the remaining coral reefs, major ice sheets will melt (accelerated the heat gain by not reflecting the sun’s rays), seas will rise, some areas of the Earth will be difficult to live in, and extreme weather will increase.

We can either give up and let the chips fall, or we can take action and fight for every tenth of a degree.
