Per this article, AI models, in environments controlled by their creators, are escaping and doing harm to outside organizations.
They call this ‘Genie Behavior.’
If you are using AI in your company, ask yourself this question – “Am I more skilled at designing and managing AI than Meta, Anthropic and OpenAI?”
If the answer is “No”, then, odds are, your AI program has even more potential to expand beyond its assigned tasks and negatively impact your company, your clients and others outside your organization, than the programs they lost control of.
And, if your consultant says they have created safeguards, remember, so did Meta, Anthropic and OpenAI. And they actually knew what they were doing.
Until global standards and guard rails are implemented, AI, which we created to have a mind of its own, will continue to seek and find ways to escape the bottle we put it in.
We are not arguing against advancement. We are cautioning against currently trusting that we can control a tool that thinks faster than we do.
